The Next Generation of Classic Mini Fuel Injection — And Why I Partnered With BagSport Fabrications
If you’ve been following Classic Mini DIY for a while, you know we’ve always been about making the classic Mini more livable, more reliable, and more fun to drive — without losing what makes these cars special.
Today I’m announcing something I’ve been working on for months: Classic Mini DIY is now the exclusive North & South American, and shared Australian distributor for BagSport Fabrications.
Who is BagSport?
BagSport Fabrications is a UK-based shop that specializes in performance fabrication for the classic Mini. They’ve built a reputation in the European Mini community for precision-engineered turbo kits and EFI systems that are designed to bolt on — not hack on. Everything is manufactured in-house in the UK, with quality where it counts.
I connected with Ben at BagSport because we share the same philosophy: these cars deserve modern performance solutions that are accessible to the home builder. Not everyone has a full fab shop in their garage, and not every part should require one.
What’s available now?
We’re launching with BagSport’s drive-by-wire EFI system for the A-Series engine:
50mm Bosch EFI Throttle Body — Available in Forced Induction ($1,040) and Naturally Aspirated ($1,405) configurations. A complete, direct bolt-on DBW solution.
DBW Pedal Assembly ($425) — Engineered specifically for the Mini’s footwell.
Air Filter Kit ($365) — The NA conversion add-on for the 50mm Bosch throttle body.
These replace our previous Classic Mini DIY EFI products. If you were considering one of our old kits, this is the upgrade.
Why does this matter if you’re in the US?
Importing parts from the UK right now is painful. Between the 25% Section 232 tariffs, customs processing fees, and international shipping costs, a $500 part can easily become a $750 surprise when it arrives at your door — if it arrives in a reasonable timeframe at all.
We’ve handled all of that. Every dollar of duty, every customs fee, every freight charge is already factored into our pricing. You order from our Shopify store, and it ships from the US. No customs paperwork. No brokerage fees. No waiting.
What’s coming next: Turbo kits
This is the part I’m most excited about. BagSport’s rear-mounted A-Series turbo kits are coming to the Classic Mini DIY store. These are complete, bolt-on turbo packages built around proven OEM components — designed to be reliable and budget-conscious without cutting corners where it matters.
What kind of power are we talking about?
998/1098cc street engines: 110–150hp with excellent driveability
998/1098cc track builds: 150hp+
1275cc street/track: 150–200+hp
